KIOTI CK20 GEAR.
I downloaded Spybot Search & Destroy and did the check. It found a problem (as they call it) called "DSO Exploit". When I click on the "+" sign to open the (folder?) it says Registry Change. To the right of Registry Change is a Rubic Cube looking icon. When I click on the "Cube", the Registry Editor opens and there are 6 folders with god knows how many sub folders. What am I to do with this find /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif ??? Hope someone can help. G

/ Spybot S&D Question #2
I've never opened the folders - I just scan, and tell them to fix any problems they find - no problems!

/ Spybot S&D Question #3
I never do anything with them other than let SpyBot remove identified items. I would say just make sure the item is checked and click Fix Problems (or whatever the button is).

I will bet that you were the type of kid that had to take apart the watch to see what made it tick. Sometimes you are better off if you don't know everything that there is to know about what a computer program does and how it does it. Just accept on face value that the program knows what it is doing and that you don't. I shall now retire to dismantle my snowblower to see what makes it move snow.. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif This makes the 5,000th ...... glad that I could make it posting to a friend....... Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, & Happy New Year..... I am retiring to Arizona where it is warm.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

First of all do a google search on it and you'll find out that its some sort of advertising co, or something like that. Then do a google search on how to remove it. All they say is to change the registry values and one of those sites will walk you thru the process. I know because thats what I did. Its a harmless little tid-bit that just messes with peoples minds when they run spybot. Its nothing to worry about, it will just re-appear when you re-boot anyway if you let spybot take care of it. It will only be removed if you change the values in the registry.

OT Junkman,
That was funny. It reminded me of something. When I was 16 year old, I knew was a 19 year old boy that had bought a new Ford Courier pick-up. He had never seen a 5 speed taken a part. With less than a hundred miles on it, he tore the transmission completely apart to see how it worked. Believe it or not, he got it put back together right.

Junkman:

LOL! Was that written on my forehead when we met /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif??

When I made my first communion, at the age of 7, I got a Gold watch from my grandparents that they purchased overseas. Can you guess what I did with it /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif !

Anyways, I'm going to DESTROY it without thinking about it.

GRUMPA: Maybe I'll give the Google search a try and see what I come up with.

Thanks to all for your advice on just destroying it without worrying about it. G

GerardC,
It will pop back up on subsequent S&D searches as well. I thought I saw on here that it was no threat, but I could be mistaken......I was with my last 2 wives /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

/ Spybot S&D Question #9
Do the scan, "Fix all selected problems", then 'immunize" your system. This may prevent re-occurances.

/ Spybot S&D Question #10
And don't forget to check for updates on spybot .. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

/ Spybot S&D Question #11
As I have heard, "DSO exploit" is lists of most recently used (MRU) documents, folders, what have you. I routinely delete it, and it always comes back (with new data).
