Having problems finding some larger sized square bended U-Bolts and was wondering if you could help. Sizes:

2 x 5, 1/2 inch diameter
4 x 7, 3/4 inch diameter

Thanks for your help.

You might be able to have some made up at a spring shop.

Look for a driveline or 4x4 shop in your area. Most places set up to do driveshafts have the press to make u-bolts.

db05, Depending on what your doing with them , One quick and easy idea is to get a piece of all thread the diameter you need put it in the vise heat with torch and bend it, then cut to length needed....

I wouldn't try to hold my truck springs on with this method though... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

You might call a local Napa and see if they know of anyone in your area that makes U-bolts. I had some made up for my truck a couple of weeks ago at a small local garage. They were the only place less than an hour away that makes them.

db05,
Ditto what Redrocker said.
I'd grab the phone book and find a shop that makes them. If you put the word out to some of the better auto parts stores, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

dbo5, Some trailer axles are square and require that style U bolt. Threaded rod is not very strong and a little harder to keep tight depending what you are using it for?

Some farm implements use that style as well. Maybe a implement dealer can match them up??

Just something else to think about.

I'll be using these as part of a frame for holding forklift forks to be attached to a tractor loader so they need to be strong. Would this work, purchase some 1/2 & 3/4 round stock steel from my local steel yard, heat it, bend it using square tubing as my guide and then use a pipe threader for my threads? Those pipe threaders from Harbor Freight any good? Thanks again

db05,

Don't know where you live but if near water, check with a marina. Many boat trailers use them.
