SSQA Pallet Fork Options?

What happens with the pallets after you have the pallets on the tractor, what kind of maneuvers do you have to do?

Maybe build ramps and use 3pt pallet forks with a hydraulic top link?

As far as trying to grab the pallet to pull it back toward the tailgate where you can then fork it, look into a set of pallet pullers (I bought something similar to this).
I got a 3pt forklift for a couple hundred bucks. Guessing it weighed 600-800lbs. Mounted it to my Quick Hitch. Filled an IBC tote with water to test. 3pt got to about 1/3 full before it stopped lifting, about the same as the loader. Mast still lifted fine, but I didn't want to break my 3pt. 6" closer without the QH might have gained me a bit, but I didn't want to mess with it for minimal gains.

A L3200 won't handle a pallet or pretty much anything else else over 1,200lbs safely. I'm sure it could do better for a properly ballanced or impliment, but not a load of stuff.

Remember that the 2000 lb lift is to full height. Off the ground they will pick up more and probably a little less than that from pickup bed height. From a low trailer bed you stand a good chance. Do you have a trailer that can carry the 2000 lbs?

Not yet! I'd like to get an open trailer for the equipment and then get my year supply of pellets (2 -3 pallets) in one trip.

I was looking at Land Pride forks - just because I can roll them with the new tractor financing and it gets me a couple hundred bucks off my "2nd implement".

Or is Titan a better deal? Honestly haven't looked but I can't imagine freight is cheap...?

What about the fork lengths?

Buy at least 48" long forks, you'll kick yourself if you buy anything shorter.

Also, your pellet supplier can probably split your load to 2 pallets to keep the weight down. You can probably stack the pallets and still haul both of them at the same time.

I think the LP forks go from 48" then jump to ~60".

Pellet supplier doesn't split pallets, they just drop it where you want it and off you go.

I prefer 42" forks

I have 42" forks. The problem I find is how many things get built as 4' (deer blinds, wood cribs etc.) I don't think the weight difference between the 48" and 42" is that great.

I'd get the LandPride forks, roll them into your 0% financing, collect the couple hundred bucks you say you can get off your implement, and go with 48" forks.

Yeah, I'd tend to agree. SSQA pallet forks aren't really all that expensive. Get them now and be done with it: be able to test out what your limits are. Lots of times you can find uses for implements that you hadn't previously thought of. If you find that you don't really find a use for them then sell them: you'll take a few $$s hit, but, again, this isn't a high-priced implement so not likely a big hit (for what could only turn out to be an educational experience).

X3.

Get them and try, despite the naysayers. If you can lift it, move the truck, and lower, it will make life easier. Maybe you have to move some bags from the front of the pallet to the back. Still easy. I had to do that with pallets of sod. You *will* use forks for other things. For maneuverability I like my 42"-ers, but I'd say you're in the 48" realm.

One thing to remember is those forklifts at the store have that mast right there and can't put a pallet in a truck without resorting to pushing it. SSQA forks give you the room to get a good bite on the pallet and at least clear the tailgate to set it down and then reposition. My wife says that those pallet forks are the best thing I've bought. If I could just remember to put a pallet in the truck before I head to the store for feed. Don't try to get it all on one pallet. split the load over two and you shouldn't have any problems.

If the discussion was to get forks or not. Get them. They're one of the most useful tools you can have for the money.

Agree 100%. I use mine as much as my bucket, maybe even more.
