Try greasing the shaft and inside the PTO coupler.
Make sure you have cleaned off any grit on each or it can wear your shaft pretty quickly.

I keep a can of lithium delayed viscosity spray grease handy for just such purposes.

I'll try the Lithium grease. If I put any more of that red General purpose grease on it, I won't be able to see the splines.
I've yet to master pulling the snap collar back while pushing the coupler on.

According to the owner's manual:
Tight sway/check chains for brush hog, mowers, hay rake, tedder & ridger
Loose (2 - 2.5" sway) for plows, furrower, sub-soiler, cultivator & ditcher
Better to follow recommended procedures

I have the Woods finish mower also and the pull / push design seems sort of counter-productive and a pain in the butt.

My King Kutter rotory mower has a verticle pin you push down then slide the coupler on, much easier.

I would have thought the easier design would be on the higher priced Woods unit.
