Stablize a 3 pt hitch

The arms on my 3 pt hitch move quite a bit, sideways movement. They have the NH quick hitch setup, there seems to be quite a bit of play at all the connection points. I like the ability to being able to adjust the width of the arms so I really don't want to replace the adjustable arms with a solid one. I'm not really sure of the best way to go about this. I could put some washers in the lower pin area that is on the tractor, but the arms would still have quite a bit of play. Anyone have any ideas?

I have replaced the turnbuckles on 2 of our tractors with his kits and really like the results.

The StabilWorks stuff looks very closely like what came stock on my Yanmar LX490. It works very well, better than anything else I have used. Brush tends to grab the pin clips and jerks them out but no pins have jumped out because the clips were gone. Just pull the pin and spread to what ever width and there will be a hole lined up somewhere along the length to drop the pin into to lock it in that position and also an some elongated holes if you choose to let it have some side ways slack. Very easy to work with during hookup. Couldn't see if the StabilWorks had the elongated holes or not.

I connected the clips to my lift arms with a short length of chain, so no lost clips anymore!

Plus no holding onto the pins while trying to manhandle an implement - much less cussin'.

My L3240 came with slots like you describe. Mark's Stabilworks didn't. The only time I use the slots is for brush hogging, which I don't do with the Stabilworks equipped tractors (B2320 & B5100), so I never missed them. I suspect Mark would consider adding them to an order if you asked him. He's very easy to work with.

Actually, a little time with a drill press and a flat double-cut file, followed up by a single cut file, then refinished with a rattle can spray job and I think it would be a simple enough DIY job.

search for your tractor model, then 3pt hitch, and you should get some part numbers and diagrams for your specific tractor as well.

I'll have to take a picture of what the assembly looks like, none of the products suggested would work on this model. Where the stablizer arms attach to the tractor, I added 4 washers in the pin area to take up some of the slack. It's better but the whole thinig still moves side to side quite a bit. I think that's the way it's designed.

A picture would sure help. I'm not understanding where you're putting washers. Usually it is just an adjustment on the stabilizer chains or turnbuckles to stop side to side movement.

Your pic shows the sliding stabilizer arm. Pull the bolts in the middle, move the lift arms closer together to the desired placement. This will cause the sliding stabilizer to shorten. Then place the bolt back in which will be in different holes to hold the lift arms.

The main problemis where the arms are attached to the tractor, there is quite a bit of play in that fitting. This is where I put the washers, 4 helped somewhat. But there is still quite a bit of sideways play.

If the lift arms are moving side to side too much, then you can shorten the stabilizer arms.

I pull both middle pins, attach the implement, raise the implement slightly off the ground. Then I push the implement to the center and put in one pin. Then I move to the other side and push the implement the other way toward the middle then pin that side.

^Exactly what GPindaM said.
Also, make sure the shanks of those bolts are a "running fit" with the holes in the stabilizers.
If not, swap them out for bolts with larger diameter shanks.
You want a close fit to reduce slop and wallowing the holes.
