Well, in the case of the Jinma 200 series - it's not entirely the manufactuer's fault. The majority of that product line is made for domestic (Chinese) consumption, which usually means no power steering. Without PS, pressure relief is provided inside the lift box.
But American importers stipulated power steering - and fixed a price they were willing to pay for it. So they got what they paid for, which ended up to be that pigtail which was QD'd through a priority valve on the way to resuming the OE hydraulic loop.
That's just one example of how importers dictate customization, then fall short of actually paying to have it done right. The subsequent fact that the Chinese engineers deliver what the importers ask for has far less to do with sound design than it does with how much money the importers would pay for the option. Early Jinma owner complaints about undersized clutches, battery placement, breather housing location, et cetera can actually be blamed almost solely upon early importers with tight pockets.
