Stand by generators

No, the manual says 2 years, or 200 hours of use, whichever comes first. I guess if you had to run it for a week straight (8.3 days technically) it would be a pain to have to change the oil/filter, but that would be a pretty small inconvenience under those sort of circumstances.
If I am running my generac 24-7 for 3 or 4 days I shut it down and change the oil and filter.Maybe I am a little to **** about maintenance.LOL.

I've had mine since November of '11, and without a power outage I only have 26 hr on it just from exercise times. So 40 hr or 2yr is not that out of the ordinary.

Just going by what my installing Generac dealer told me to do.
The manual on my new gasoline 15K portable Generac says do the first oil change after 30 hours, then every 100 hrs or every season after that. The interval may be longer on propane-fired units, because it is a "cleaner" fuel.

personally. id service mine every summer. a quart or 2 of oil, filter and plug. a few bucks for piece of mind. I DO change oil in mine every year and do overall service on it. Have never had a starting issue in 16 years of use while its been connected to the house.
