Start sometime

Hello we have a kioti 40hp. Ds4110HS. Sometimes it will start with key and sometimes it want. You can turn key on when it don't and cross the starter out an start it. Help ? I already check the seat switch.

Check the owners manual. On my DK55, the PTO switch must be in the off position to start.

I'll go along with Jim on the owner's manual. The newer tractors have several safeties built in which must be satisfied. There is the seat switch and the PTO switch of course but there may also be a clutch switch, a neutral switch, and a sensor on the HST engagement (if the tractor is HST). If safeties are not satisfied the starter will not go,

Well he says that if he shorts the starter it will start. So….sounds like a relay to me. Here’s a link to my issue/fix but with a different model. Skip to the end…

I cleaned AND replaced the key switch, with minimal improvement. In my case changing the relays cleared up my issues. However, I guess start with cheapest/easiest first….
