Finally started to fix the leaking HSU in my 5035 steering. It has been leaking a little for years after yanking my arse on/off the tractor many, many times. It has an Eaton HSU and the seal kit it $103 at the dealer, and I am going to have him procure me one Monday from Texas. Or at least get it coming my way. I do not usually use this tractor in the winter, and it is time to fix it. The tilt frame that the HSU sits in was removed to get at the hoses. Kind of simple to get to them with the tilt frame off. Just held on by a couple big removable pins. First picture is of the HSU with the pins out. Second of the pins that the steer wheel frame pivots on. Third is the tilt frame. And last is when I am starting to mark the lines. I not going to be in a hurry to remove it, probably take a week to get the seal kit. Will take it off then. And I am retired, and have other stuff to do.

Here is the ' homemade and it shows it ' puller I made for the Mahindra steering wheel. I took a scrap piece of 1/4" steel I had hacked off something [ 2" angle ] and marked three holes 33mm apart from each other and drilled these with a 1/4" clearance hole. After finding the center of these, I drilled that out to tap drill size for the center bolt [ in this case, a 3-1/2" long 1/2-13 set screw I had already ]. I had to buy the three M6-1.0 80mm bolts at the local Mid-States bolt/screw down in Gaylord. Not fancy, actually thought it should be thicker, but did the job. Also a picture of more marking of the HSU.

Made a new handhold to use to yank my arse on/off the tractor to try to save the new HSU seal. Made out of 14" of 1-1/2" angle and a bent piece of 1/2" black pipe. With an old brush wacker grip added to it just for the heck of it... Used 1" thick nylon to space it out. It is just loosely mounted at this time. Have to wait until I can lower the FEL to get the bottom carriage bolt in. Uses the existing holes on the FEL tower.
