They break Murphy's Law by taking it one step past predictable calamity. When a goat is involved, "what's the worst that could happen?" needs to be evaluated in triplicate.

In todays San Diego Union Tribune paper( I can't call it a News paper) there was a picture of a herd of 200+ goats they turned loose near Cuymaca College in the El Cajon are to clear brush. the short caption said they expected them to clear 50 acres in 6-8 weeks. I didn't think there was anyone that smart in the county govt. . I wish they would do a lot more of it, especially in areas around power lines.

Only use females. Bucks will cause troubles.

At the end of each day, you have to comb every single inch of the goats for ticks. Night feeding of garlic cloves is a must to prevent parasite infestation.
They need shelter during bad weather days.

Mobile transport trailers are not cheap for them either.

I've seen the neighbor's goats. I'll pass. Stupidest things on the planet.

I had a few goats on my property in North Carolina. I had been selectively clearing unwanted trees and cleaning under desirable trees. I had trouble keeping up with the jasmine and smilax vines - until I got the goats. They did a nice job getting rid of weeds, vines and brush. When the got it all under control, they started eating the trees! A couple of my Mexican friends then had a barbecue.....

We have 7 new goat kids this week. 2 sets of twins and a set of triplets. Unfortunately, some of our boer goats are now crossed with the neighbor's dwarf Nigerian's (dang hole in the fence!). Boer goats are the worst at exploiting your fence weaknesses.

The bastard breed kids are kind of cute though, they have Yoda ears that stick straight out!

Boer and Nubian mixes are common. We have 2 in our herd that are adorable as well. They are the only 2 that can withstand these single digit over night temps. The other girls shiver a bunch, need the heat lamp on and prefer the hot water tanks going.
