Starting a tree and brush shear build

Heres a directional shear by Berlon thats built like yours is drawn up. There was also another company that made one like this and it also doubled as a puller to. Berlon: Tree Shear 5"

ALot of thinning tree shears back in pulp wooding days were built like this and the fall the trees to the side of travel.

Did anyone notice the weight of that 5" shear? 650 lbs! Wow! That's a lot of steel!

Yeah I have the geometric portion figured out (thanks Autocad, SolidEdge, Sketchup) LOL, I have my donor chassis stripped down ( former heavy duty hay fork ) ... pics of that.. and then pics of my layout. NO THIS IS NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM MY WELD READY SETUP but it is kind of what I want to do... the cylinder is represent by the little square tube and round bar coming out haha, haven't found the right cylinder for the right price yet
I figure the total weight with everything will be around 360 to 390 for mine...

I did not put a top bar on mine. Built it from scrap that I already had. When possible use the thickest steel you have.

Yeah your video was one of the first ones I saw, I went to the international farm machinery show here in Louisville and shears ranged from 3400 to 6500 for FEL or skidsteer mounted ones... I am using 1/4 wall and .375 to .500 plate for braces and cutting edges...
