Chuck, Bobcat is low flow 16 gpm I believe. Ports on cylinder are 1/2".

Rio, you give me too much credit. Although I will add a secondary wedge it will be fixed, probably a 2x3" angle iron. The piece behind the wedge is to try to take some of the splitting pressure off the 1/2" x 8" plate that the wedge is welded to and distribute it to the web of the beam. The v shaped gap will be filled with a thin pie shaped piece and welded in.

This weekend was spent drilling and bolting the cylinder tie down and cutting material for the pushing sled.

Ok, well I had to take a week to plow some Ice and snow. I have gotten the cylinder tie down attached and did a whole lot of hole boring to fabricate the base for the pushing sled.

1grnlwn - your mag drill is getting a workout! Question - is the beveled steel strip under the I beam web available commercially? And did you use that same material reversed as a guide for the slider? All the wear my old splitter has is where the slider moves along the beam. I assume you tacked and bolted that together so you could replace worn parts? Nice fabrication.

Jimmy, First of all the cyl tie down is shimmed with beveled washers. They are made to use when you need to bolt something to a beam. They came from Fastenal and are about a buck a piece. The slider slides on a 1/2" x 8" flat bar that is stitch welded to the top of the beam. I am toying with the idea of putting some grease zerks in high wear places. To be honest the bolted slider is just copied from many of the splitter designs I have seen. It does give the flexibility of adjusting "fit" when needed. As far as the mag drill is concerned, it is my latest addition to the shop and I can't imagine trying to align and drill all those 5/8" holes with my wimpy drill press. P.S. it still took a long time to drill all that, messy too!
