Doesn't take much at all, just enough so the inside surface tracks the air temp better so nothing condenses on it.

In the PNW, often people put down some plastic vapor barrier crap on the rafters and then put their tin down. In the end bugs and birds and time bring them to failure. Put plywood and building paper down before you put the tin down. Spendy but right. I did one structure the first way and never did it that way again. I don't like strand board either. Plywood.GOOD plywood.
