What state is round on both ends and high in the middle?

There used to be a resteraunt in Roseville, Ca that did that. They waited till you sat down at the table though. And, they wouldn't thrash an unsuspecting person's nice tie. They would cut them off though, and hang it from the ceiling beams, with a little tag noting your name and date.

My Grandfather went there sorta often, and would always find a wild outrageous second hand tie to wear, just for the fun of having it cut off and hung up.

Pinnacle Pete's or Peaks was the name. My Grandfather said the had one or two in the greater Los Angeles area too. But, they tore this particular place down 20 years ago. For food and ambience, the place reminded me of a "Cattlemans" resteraunt.

Of course, in Markleeville, Ca, at the Cutthroat Saloon, the ceiling is covered with bra's that ladies have given up over the years...More of a biker kind of thing, but it is a nice bar to stop in and get a cool one.

Sounds like The Trail Dust steakhouse in this part of the country. There may be others but it's the only one I know of where they cut your tie off.

Harv;
Maybe your daughter could get extra credit on the "name game". Not too long ago, there had been debate about dropping the 'State of and Providence Plantations' in an effort to simplify things. Cost too much $$$ at the time to re-draft all the official documents and such. I have several citations from the State Department that lists the official name. I could send a copy to the teacher if needed:)

P.S. My wife is a school teacher. She tells me about all sorts of misinformation that is spread throughout school systems all over. (ie. Pluto was a planet; Christopher Columbus is portrayed as a hero when he should be classified as a tyrant, never mind the fact he thought he was in India until he died, not realizing he was in the "New World"; etc...)

LilRhody -

If we convince the teacher that RI has the longest name, my daughter might run the risk of having her original answer marked wrong, thus ending her perfect record this year. Of the dozen or so geography tests so far, she's the only one in the class who hasn't missed a single question yet (yes, papa is proud /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif).

On the other hand, the students are only being tested on what the texts and teacher have said, so I don't see how she could be faulted for the answer she gave. Tell you what -- if it's convenient for you, maybe you could just fax me one of them certificates and she could present it, as you say, for "extra credit".

I'll send you my fax number in a private message.
