So you think his business practices were sound?

Everyone can make up their own minds regarding Ted and EA. To me, all their recent actions scream shyster to me. I doubt if I will ever really consider them for an implement again, as I know there are just as good other implements from other companies that didn’t take peoples money and run. Ted may have said that 2.3 million dollars were returned by credit card companies. This doesn’t mean EA returned the money, just that the credit card companies did. People that paid by checking are not getting a refund. Maybe they will make this right, but I would give that seriously low odds.

We do not know details, giving the benefit of the doubt, he didn't use customer funds to pay for anything. (it has been suggested that is criminal, I have no idea) Since he wasn't charged with that crime, the money MUST be available to be returned to customers who didn't receive the product they ordered. It has been reported that he didn't return money from checks.
So, either it can't be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that money was spent elsewhere, or it is available for return.
Anyone care to add to that thought?

P.S. I'm just a homeowner using a EA toothbar that I love, but lost all respect for EA based on some solid sounding information, regardless of how many holes some people claim that information has.

The only way Ted and EA could have prevented this is if he took out a bond against all things unexpected on top of the construction loan. I discussed this in my OP on this thread. Perhaps you missed it?

If he had done rudimentary accounting, he would have categorized cash received for orders not yet built or delivered as liabilities. He had to have known he had cash flow issues and not sufficient margins. Do you seriously think he did not see things coming?

Maybe you should float him a personal loan if you believe in his business acumen so much.

Why are you attacking my person, when I've only acknowledged only what can be known, but cannot speak to anything that is speculative?

.... Again, all the problems seemingly stem from EA couldn't move into the new building because at least one sub-contractor changed the spec and from that, EA couldn't get an occupancy permit.
So you know that to be a fact? Maybe the new building situation was more a problem with Ted than the contractor.

Plus he still had his old building, and could have continued manufacturing of all those products for which he had already been paid.

I'm not attacking your person (I actually like your videos). I'm just trying to understand why you refuse to consider that TED has any culpability.

1) Why won't the municipality grant an occupancy permit?

2) I've explained that I'm staying on the side of what can be known.

This is known. Read the article then decide.

That’s easy. EA didn’t pay the contractor on draw schedule, contractor quit working until paid.
Ea got the draw from the bank, but didn’t pay builder and didnt give money back to bank apparently.

Hard to believe that people are still giving Ted the benefit of the doubt. It's well known that Ted knew his business was in trouble and still kept taking orders. Nor did he refund any of those orders but let the credit card companies take the hit.
If Ted was using business funds for his house then hopefully he will be charged with embezzlement.

It sounds like the structure was a predesigned commercial structure with a provided set of architectural drawings.

A subcontractor allegedly. Substituted parts or changed parts which compromised the integrity of the structure
during the erection and assembling of the provided parts.

The building inspector caught the changes . He will not issue a building occupancy permit until the structural change are corrected.

Correcting the problem will require disassembling the structure, installing the correct parts and reassembly.

Ted probably went with the cheapest erector who was not bonded so as a result of trying to save a few dollars put himself right out of business.

Where are you getting this info? Is this Ted talk, or do you have actual information?

From the court case listed, it doesn’t mention any of this, and if this was in fact the case, Ted should not have paid the contractor and sued him, but left the money in the bank. Instead Ted took the money and started putting the assets in family members names.

My guess is there are very few on this forum who have machines needing anything heavier duty the most all cat. one implements available. If it makes you feel good to have "bragging rights" because you own EA implements good for you.
I don't own any EA implements FWIW. And most of mine are Clas1/2 sized. My Sprayer is the only one just Cat 2 but, that is due to the size of the water/chemical tank!

The contractor is a well respected one in the area in business many years with a really good reputation.

Old link (Feb 2024) but On EA facebook page Ted is proclaiming he is going back into business.
Wonder if he will get a bunch of pre-orders and then not deliver and keep the money, again?
The latest court document, issued Feb. 14, said that defendants have transferred multiple real estate assets to immediate family members, and Ted Corriher appears to have diverted more than $700,000 in loan funds.
