Gunnar, that fellow with the oil can may know a lot about steam engines, but from the look of his overalls, he doesn't know anything about soap and water. I guess that just adds to the ambiance.

Of course, if we had a "Dirtiest TBN ballcap" contest, I'd win it hands down.

Like father - like doughter?
The fair was about coal and steam.

Coal, steam,hand oiled equipment and the type of oil used for steam equipment may not rate as the cleanest work around. Stuff will jump many feet for no reason other than to attach itself to you. And after it gets on it never wants to let go.

Seems like father and daughter were dressed appropriately.

Tractor pull

Doe triple D (there were 4 of these I think?)

All my pics of the steam stuff came out bad, I only had the camera on my phone.

For those that dont know, the Dorset steam fair is about 600 acres of steam machinery, as well as tractors, a huge fair, trading stalls, tens with pretty much everything in, what isnt there aint worth seeing.

I have some information on the make of the blue tractor if anyone is interested and I can find the book.

Egon, are they not made from 2 Fordsons attached together with a rotating pivot. Hydraulic rams to turn.

Also made out of the same make of tractor (there were lots of variations, should have taken more photos).

There was another British tractor That looked very similar.

Egon, I think you might be thinking of a 'county' tractor, with 4 wheels of the same size. There was a whole display on them. Looks the same except only 1 engine, and different steering.

I go out in the morning after a shower and with clean work clothes to work on equipment. I usually come in dirtier than that fellow from head to toe. I have not yet figured out how to repel oil, grease, dirt and etc. from my body and clothes. If you go into our local farm store during planting or harvest season, you will see farmers in there looking like that guy and worse. They don't have time to clean up to get a part and just get dirty all over again. Not being cantankerous but if there were not guys and gals out there getting dirty, our society would very quickly grind to a halt. Have a good one!

1948berg, thanks for the photos, that first picture of the small steam crawler sure was a fascinating piece of equipment. I like that old iron, especially if it has tracks!
