they should pass for an engineered

plan.

You have to remember that common sense is not what the Gov uses. If you don't have the paper from an engineer you do not have anything. The trusses I made were the same and I am spending $$$$$$ for my mistake. Ed

can you build the new part 6" away from the old building, get it approved, and then tear off the old roof and rebuild and then join the two buildings together, once one has the new part build move or store the tools in the new part when rebuilding.

I could do that but I try to do what is right even if it don't make sense. Also what happens when I go to build something else and the inspector sees what I have done, even if I he doesn't make me fix it I have a mad inspector to deal with and I don't want that to happen either. Ed

I am not saying to try to circumvent the law, what I am saying is if a second building is built next to the first, with permits, then the tools have storage, you have time and opportunity to reto fit the second and tie it back together, all with inspectors blessings, it may even be able to be done with one permit.

maybe just build one new larger building that one can move into, and use the old for storage,
