2000 New Holland TC29D with 7308 FEL, and top & tilt. 1950 John Deere B. 1940 Farmall A.
I've noticed that if I put any weight at all (< 300 lbs) in the bucket of the Bush Hog M246 loader on my TC29D, then it steers really hard. I can't turn the wheel unless the tractor is moving. This is either on concrete or on the ground (on the ground the wheels sink way into the ground). The power steering works fine otherwise and I can spin the wheel with 1 finger.

Do any of you with a TC25/29/33 with a New Holland 7308 FEL have this problem and if so, how much of a load does it take?

My TC-33 with 50 hours on it steers perfectly with a full load in the bucket. I wonder if your problem might be because the engine rpm. isn't fast enough? With a hydro setup you can run the engine at rated rpm and just modulate the hydro pedal. This might not be as easy with a manual trans. Just something to think about. BUSBOY.

Mosey--

Sounds like some kind of nonconformity to me. My 33D steering requires essentially the same input with the bucket loaded as with it empty.

Mosey,

Just had 600lbs of salt in my bucket the other day and had no problem with the power steering. You may have to have your RPM's up a bit. I have the TC29D with the 7308 loader and 60" bucket

Mosey,

I have to agree with the others on this one as well. As long as the revs are up a little I have had normal steering under load on my TC33D with 7308 FEL.

I have TC25D (80 hours) with the 7308 loader and I don't have any problems with the steering and a loaded bucket.

I do loader work at around 1900-2000RPM on my TC29D, and even with a full bucket, I can use one finger to turn the wheel while stationary. I'd suspect that your power steering pump is dying or below spec.

Jay
