So I received the seals yesterday and replaced them. The first one took about 1 1/2 hours and the second side took about 20 min's once I knew what was going on. Does anyone know what type of oil is recommended? I've read a few posts about the rear diff and using UTF but should I be using regular 80-90 gear oil for the front?

Use 80W-90 gear oil - UTF is only for tractors where the transmission and hydraulics share a common sump - yours does not. Gear oil for the trans, rear differential and front axle assembly; AW-32 hydraulic fluid for the lift box and power steering,; 15W40 diesel motor oil for the engine sump and injector pump assembly.

The taskmaster tractors were made by DF so it is possible the it has a common tranny/hydraulics as my 2007 DF354 has. I do use UTF with no issues. Check the manual. If the stated capacity is in 25 l. range then it is probably a common tranny/hydraulics. If its for the front differential then for sure as stated 80W90 gear oil.

Correct to my knowledge as well. DF or DFAM or DongFeng tractors are typically common sump. Hydraulics and gear trains share the same fluid. UTF is appropriate in the main sump. The front drive seems to be a matter of personal choice; UTF again, or conventional 80W90 gear oil; I'd personally prefer the latter.

Thanks everyone for your input. Tommy from Affordable also emailed me and said they use Shell 15-40 for the front diff's. Like you said Greg, it seems to be personal choice. I happen to have 2 gallons of 80W90 at home so that's what I'll use for now!!
