steering problem

i have a l3130 and if you turn the steering wheel slow it doesnt turn the wheels. if you turn the wheel back and forth fast the wheels grab. if you go a little ways and turn the wheel again it doesnt turn the wheels. anybody ever have this problem and know what it could be.

I think that the problem is in the hand pump below the steering wheel. From time to time the cylinder will go bad but the most times it's the hand pump.

I'd be sure the filter is clean or has been changed before I'd be doing anything though.

i lifted the front end off the ground with the bucket and tried to turn the wheels by hand they turned freely. do you think the cyl. could be by passing.

On the BX series this is common. The seal in the cylinder is most likely bad.
