steering wheel alignment

Hi Guys, I have a Mahindra 6000 with 14 hours on it and my steering wheel has gone out of alignment. I don't know what has caused this since I've been very easy on the tractor. If I oversteer the steering wheel past its' stop I can get it back in alignment but this doesn't seem right to do. Anybody know what is wrong and a possible fix. I haven't contacted the dealer yet but will do so tomorrow. Thanks for any help.

pork, I don't know about Mahindra specifically but my Deere is the same way. It bugged me at first, but eventually I found the wheel was centered differently nearly all the time. I think it has to do with the hydrostatic steering, there is no hard, mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the axle like a car. It's all through hydraulics, at least on my Deere /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

hey pork, rob is right, i have a mahindra 5500 fwd, and it is the same way, now i dont even pay it any mind to it, and i have 19 hours on it.

That will happen with hydraulic steering. Like was stated before, there is no hard linkage between the wheel and the front end. This allows the steering wheel to move around depending on where it is when the tractor is killed and whether or not it is moved with no pump pressure, etc. It is normal behavior.

I've got over 200 hours on my 6000. Never paid any mind to what the steering wheel "said" at any time, just where the front wheels are pointing. As the others said, Hydrostatic is different from gear/rack%pinion steering set ups. BobG in VA

My 5500 does it also. It annoyed the heck out of me at first. The wheel always ended up blocking the section of the dash I wanted to see. I now have about 18 hours on her and just deal with it.
