Shifts beautiful , as you will see in my pics i haul semi trailers with hay behind it . And why i use it on the dirt scraper as it will shift up to travel and dump to box then back into low to fill the box. I do like verstiles a lot more but shifting with them is more of an almost stationary job !
Bearcat will shift up the gears on the road like a truck !

I'm starting to get the hang of shifting this tractor on the move, seems like you need to keep the rpm's up when shifting. Can you tell me how many gallons of diesel you tractor burns per hour when pulling your scraper. Thanks

Never really worked it out sorry ! Scraping uses a lot less than steady pulling on a 24ft chisel plough all day .

My neighbor has a Super Wildcat powered by a Cat 3160 diesel. He farms about 200 acres of hay and uses the Steiger to pull a 15-ft offset disc for primary tillage.

Good luck and post photos of your new toy.

Hello, my names Jake and I've recently been looking for a good Steiger Super Wildcat, to use as a parts tractor for the one i have, it seems like these things are just impossible to find, and since you were able to find one i was wondering if you could possibly know where another is. These tractors are so well built i believe, that id hate to get a different used tractor to replace it so it would be very helpful if you could give me any information on one. Thank you

I have seen a couple come up on auction sites Purple Wave and Big Iron, and there are tractor salvage yards that have parts - - but they seem high to me. I checked on a rear axle at a salvage yard and he wanted 1500 for it, that's a high price for it to go on a 4500 tractor.
I will keep me eye's open and let you know if I see one come up - -

Jake - - Be sure to check the bolts holding the rear axle to the frame (4 on each side), mine sheared off and allowed the axle to spin, breaking the pinion gear off. While replacing it I noticed that it had been replaced before, so the same thing happened to previous owner. The top of the bolts are hard to get to and hold while tightening, you need a special wrench. I have two of these wrenches if you need one.
I wish someone would have told me this, replacing bolts is a lot easier than replacing the rear end.

Wow, i actually found a bolt broken on the left side of the rear axle, i didn't think it was a common problem ill have to check on it more often. The bolts on my steiger are all regular bolts, but that could be because it got restored a while back. Thanks for the heads up.
