If it were me i would use Devcon and the heli coils and screw in studs and self locking nuts, instead of steel bolts in aluminum. ……. jim

Jim, on the studds,they would definitely improve holding power,especially since I could fully utilize every thread in the case,however I could only use them on 2 bolts,the others use an allen head 1/2" -13 because there is hardly any room for a bolt,no way to use a nut there,as for the devcon,wouldn't it set up to fast,it takes a long time to install that assembly,it never just lines up,it's a right fit and there are about 8 hydraulic hoses that have to be connected as it goes in,the fit is tight andit often takes afew tried to get everything in its place,then starting the bolts successfully is a major pita

For 1/2-13 threads, you can get the thin wall repair serts that require only standard 5/8 -11 threads for install. But I would put the heavy duty thicker wall in if it was mine. I have a lot of experience with heli coils in aluminum. They are OK, but the serts are far superior.

Then use SS. bolts with lock tight. You need an inert metal against aluminum or you will have inter granular corrosion and that is what lets them loosen. I just bit the bullet and have a new Steiner 440 to be here on Monday. I traded my VT. in………. jim

Hello I would try using grade 8 studs and nuts on the out side of the half spindle. I'm a mechanic and I run into this problem some times also but I have found with the studs and and good nuts that all the ones I ever have done never come back. Also use some blue lock tite on them so that they will not loosen off but you can still get them off the red lock tite is good but you'll have a very hard time if you ever have to take them off.
