Sticking HST Foot Control

I have another problem with BX2200. The HST foot control would not return to neutral position when pressure was removed from the pedal. The tension on the spring has been increased once since purchase. There is a small shock absorber type cylinder attached to the HST linkage inside the right frame. I disconnected this cylinder and tightened the tension spring some more to resolve the problem. Just wondered if anyone has had this problem and what your fix was.

Your tractor is under warrantee I would definitly get it to the dealer as this a safety item. Something else is causing it to bind up. Your fix would be fine as a cob job but not on a new tractor.

Nice to see someone else is in the same boat as I am. I noticed my BX1800 HST peddle was getting kind of stiff, I also noticed that the Low and High range shift lever wasn't going all the way back into High like it did when I 1st got it. I decided to brake out some spray lithium grease and pull the right rear tire off, I sprayed both the shifter and the HST peddle linkage, the shifter works like a champ now, the HST peddle is still sticking. I will have to be contacting my dealer about the problem.

I TO HAVE HAD A STICKY HST PEDAL ,IT SEEMS TO BE THE WORST AFTER I HAVE WASHED THE TRACTOR DOWN.SO I REGULARY SPRAY THE LINKAGES DOWN WITH SOME LUBRICANT.

duster hit the nail on the head, I was at my dealers today snooping around, he sells the Blue brand tractor also, decided to check them out. The TC18 is a cute little bugger, not much bigger than the BX, anyway back to the subject. I mentioned to my dealer about the sticking HST peddle, he ask me if I washed my tractor much, I do, he told me to oil the linkage with a penetrant, he has run into this problems on the BX, and several of the Blue brand tractors he sold. I gave everything a good spray, even were the peddle pivots and all is well now. I also got another pleasing discovery while at the dealer. I decided to buy what I needed for my 50 hour service, he told me not to because the 50 hour service would be performed by him as part of my purchase, he told me to call when I was ready and they would come out to my place and do the service on site. Now that is service that you can't get from an online dealer, especialy considering I only paid $5.00 more than what Carver was asking for a BX1800.

I noticed this problem, i.e. drive pedal would not return to neutral without tapping the other side, on a NH TC33D tractor I looked at. (It had just been washed, too). Seems like a reasonable solution, spraying the linkage with a penetrant. Is this tractor's pedal designed to be operated by toe & heel? A similar question on the jplan CTB board yielded suggestion to lube "zerk fitting on the hst pedal shaft" for a NH TC. Sorry, I know this a Kubota Owning discussion area.

Good timing on this post. My pedal stating sticking this past weekend. Anyway, is there any thought on which type of lubricant will give me the most lasting solution: Oil based, silicon or white lithium? Since I haven't looked at the linkage yet, I'm not sure what needs to be corrected. I believe white lithium has the longer staying power, but I don't believe (my perception from use) that it penetrates narrow crevasses as well as the other two.

I have used a Molybdenum based grease for years with very good results. It gets a little stiff in cold weather < 32 F

For the parts of the linkage that you can get at easy, a Moly based grease spray will do the trick. For the pivot point that the HST is on requires something that will penitrate, sure would have been nice of Kubota to put a grease fitting on this spot.

Update on original post. My BX now has about 22 hours on it and the HST foot control has become easier to push. In fact, I reduced the tension on the spring this weekend so that it is more like an accelerator on a car. I still have not reconnected the shock absorber type cylinder that seemed to be part of the original problem. I like for the tractor to stop when I get off the HST. The cylinder is supposed to keep the tractor from abruptly stopping when you let off the foot control. I used some Dextron transmission fluid to lube the pivot points when the sticking problem began. My ex-Ford tractor has a grease fitting on the HST foot control.
