If the rod bearing is bad, you may need a crankshaft, too. I'd look at the rod journal carefully and if it is bad, look for a parts saw.

Found a used crankshaft on ebay for 11 bucks shipped so hopefully it is in good shape like it says it is. Think i can get a new piston and rings and a used cylinder for about 50 bucks, so maybe will have this saw up and running again. Since i already split the cases figure i might as well try and get it running again.

Cant find a gasket for the cases though, guess ill try making one...

Got the crankshaft switched out, and ended up making my own crankcase gasket. Waiting on new piston/rings.... Fingers crossed

Okay, reassembled today and started the 3rd pull.
Now i am just trying to fine tune the carb since i messed with the screws before tear down. Thanks everyone for the info, nice to have my saw back in action.
