Stihl chainsaw almost locked up-?

/ Stihl chainsaw almost locked up-? #41
Old thread, I know, but I got a SIMPLE solution to my problem(s).
I have a Stihl 026 that is about 30 years old. Never had a problem. Even if it sat for 3 years, three pulls and it would start right up. Always used gas-oil mix. Until a couple of years ago.
I started running Tru-Fuel 50:1 because I thought it would be better than my mix.

Have an old 028 WB we inherited from my wife's dad. Never messed with it until a couple of years ago when the 026 acted locked up.
Put Tru-Fuel in it. No happiness.

So the Boss Lady gets me a new MS250 for Christmas. Ran like a champ with the Tru-Fuel. When I got done I drained the tank back into an empty TF can.
After that saw sat for about 9 months, it acted like the old 026 (locked).
Been treating all three for hydrolock for the past 3 months with no success.

So today I went to Tractor Supply and got a jug of multi mix like I used to use. Washed the rotted mix out of the old gallon jug I hadn't used in years and mixed up a gallon with fresh (no ethanol!) gas.

The Christmas saw and the old Wood Boss run just fine with the old school mix!
Got to put the 026 back together and see how it does.

Bottom line: no more Tru-Fuel in any of my saws!

Why the Tru-Fuel make them act like they are hydrolocked, I have no clue. A few pulls with the old school mix freed them right up.
