Stihl chainsaw prices

i'm looking to get a new saw that is somewhere between my 011 and my 038. the 011 is not enough and the 038 is becoming a bit heavy for me. what i want to know is whether there are price differences between dealers? or should i just go to the closest one?
anyone own an MS250? any comments about it?
I have had an 011 for a long time now. I think the 011 is a good saw but a bit small also and have been looking to to replace it when the time is right. The only thing I know for sure is I will be purchasing a Stihl. Too many to choose from, like everything else.
I also think it's funny how the longer you keep a power tool, like a chainsaw, weed whacker etc., the heavier they get. Why is that:D

Coming from an 038 which is a great commercial saw you could even drop to a 361 and it would be lighter and still give you what you are used to.

Otherwise go for the 260 to stay with pro saw performance.

Best advise so far IMO. That is if you MUST stay with a stihl.

Dont be afraid to shop other brands and get some "hands on" at the dealers to see what you really like. Husky, Dolmar/makita, and Echo ALL make excellent saws that will run with stihl any day of the week.

Dont get all pissy and defense over your choice of saw.

Wow, where's that coming from?

In my earlier post, I have stuck with the facts.

I finally tried a solo 637 T out of curiosity and the cost of one new was about $289. I bought a used one used 1 time for a couple hours that had carb issues from get go. I fixed the carb and the saw has better AV then the 200T IMO and will cut circles around the 019 192 versions. Still not a 200T in the cut though which has set the bar high to compare to.

To the other guy with 019's you just seemed to not listen to reason and was defensive of your saws . Run what you want like I said. I just try and stay away from junk saws myself, unless someone brings one for me to work on. Then I cuss them saws, but really like the pay from them. So yes keeping buying them LOL.

Don't forget to look at the Husqvarna saws,

Yes, Husky (and Echo, Makita...) should not be ruled out. The new 335XPT
in the photo seemed very capable, tho I have not used and lived with
any of these saws except the 009L (top). That is there just for comparison.
The others belong to a friend, and sadly his other great saw (Echo 330T) is
missing from this fine collection of climber saws.

I have a Tanaka 3301 top-handle coming next week. It should be interesting
to open that one up. Never had one before. The saw in the photo is
new, so started easily and is very light.

Personally, I am not married to any brand, and each saw's limitations only
come out by using them in the field, and fixing them. Chainsaw prices, as
the OP knows, is an upfront limitation.

i bought the 250 today. they wouldn't give me a different chain than the safety one. i got a mail in coupon for a case. i used the saw to cut a locust tree into stove size pieces. the saw is light and easy to use. typical need for several tugs on the cord to get going. cut very fast with the brand new chain. i enjoyed using it. the locust is about 15" diameter at its widest.
before i bought this saw i researched the echo cs-400, the husqvarna 445, and the makita DCS46018. these look like the comparable saws available from recommended brands. I wanted to try the makita (2lbs heavier) but there aren't a lot of local dealers. its available from a lot of online merchants. i have some makita electric tools that are very good. the echo comes with a smaller engine. it also has a smaller fuel tank. not sure if the translates into the same or less running time. the husqvarna and the stihl are very similar. since there is a stihl dealer in this county and i would have to go to the next county to buy the echo or the husq i decided to buy local.

I have two 250's and so far, zero problems...

I did get the easy start because I had a hand injury that just wasn't healing and even if it is the wimpy way to start a saw... it sure is easy.

Also, the Dealer had it about the same price... guess they had a hard time selling it?

I just bought a MS250 today to compliment my MS180 and MS361 :D

I guess I need to add a MS441 to the mix soon.....

Yes it is Fred. Good eye! My father gave me that saw. It funny you say 441 magnum. Just borrowed my buddies to try out.
I should have anted up another $150 and got the 441 over the 362. It would make a better partner for an old 028.

i've had my 250 for a little more than a month now. i am definitely an occasional user as i've had maybe 2 rounds of firewood cutting so far. i still like the lightness of the saw. i like the no tool fill caps. the holes you pour bar oil and mix in seem to be bigger and easier to use.
after using the 038 for so many years i find the 250 kind of slow and not too hard to bog down. but the 250 is easier on my back. i should use both saws. if i have a log sitting up where i can just go down the line cutting the 38 would be my choice. but if i have to keep repositioning the log and putting the saw down and pulling the rope i prefer the 250.
