This is the one I have now. It is silver and not the black color pictured but that is immaterial I believe. Concerning the other brands that are less expensive, I am not adverse to trying them as long as they don't present any danger of exploding or whatever from cheap manufacturing. One concern I have and maybe you guys can weigh in on this ....my arbor hole is 20 mm and some of the other manufacturers are larger than 20 mm with an adaptor to turn it into a 20 mm arbor. Could this conceivably loosen while operating and cause the blade to become airborne, etc.? I appreciate all the help and advice you guys have given me!

I am using my FS450 to cut dogwood and sumac up to 2" but generally 1.5-1.75" in diameter. The 2" stuff I might have to take a second swipe at it.

I was wondering with the Champion carbide tip blades if you do hit an object like a rock and you lose the carbide tips, can they potentially cause great injury to the operator when they come off?

When I am doing up to 2" I tend to use the three blade brush knife not the chisel tooth blade. I have never been hit, or if I have I have not felt it, by the carbide tips when they shed if I hit something I should not. I do wear protective gear (chaps, boots, helmet, eye guard, hearing protection) when working. I can wade through thorns with 3/8 -1/2 barbs and my chaps protect me so that may give an indication of quality. My gut says don't get hit they will hurt however. NEVER EVER let anyone within 100 ft when you are using a brushcutter unless they also have protective gear on even if using the steel chisel blade or the brush knife. Small rocks are just as bad as carbide tips.

I use a 9 inch beaver blade on my FS250 and it works ridiculously well ! I cut 4 inch dia trees down with it. It has a chainsaw chain around the edge so you sharpen it with a chain file
