Stihl MS250 is very hard to pull wont start!

I am sorry to hear of your problem .I have the MS250 and a MS250C which is the pull the starter rope a couple of times and it spins the motor for you. Today was cutting wood with a larger saw for several hours and was concerned about the slack. Tightened it up and cut for 5 more minutes and put the saw in the back of the truck for a half hour ride home. Never thought about it cooling down in the 15 degree weather, If you can still pull the chain around the bar with a gloved hand I would think things would be okay. I would try to find someone who knows what caused it.

Update is I finally talked to the stihl rep and he had me take it to my local stihl dealer and said they were going to ship it to Dallas and would let me know. I am sure it will take for ever just to end in sorry it was your fault somehow and I will be stuck with freight and fees.

I have the same saw MS 250. When I bought it 1.5 yrs ago my dealer told me if I ran only Stihl ultra oil the warrantee would be bumped up to 2 yrs. I have had no problems with this saw. The Stihl ultra has also helped my Husky 455 start a lot easier. The oil is a little more expensive but for the 10 - 15 gallons of gas I put through them in a year it is well worth it to me.

I wouldn't assume the worst, after all they are picking up the slack on your out of warranty saw, so you're ahead of the curve right there. I doubt they're going to kick you to the curb at this point, if they were going to do that why have the saw sent to Dallas?

Ok, Update from yesterday. I finally called back about a week ago to see what was going on and then was told they would find out and get back with me so Tuesday I got the call and they said they would replace the saw. Local dealer pulled it apart and one of the main bearings failed. I went by there yesterday and they put my old bar and chain on a new powerhead and I walked out. The local dealer who has 30 years experience commented that he has only seen this may 3 times. It was about two months out of warranty but they still made good especially because I only had about 4 hours on the machine. I have trust back in Stihl they made it right and I am very pleased also pleased to know that I didn't lose my mind and do something dumb that was my fault.

That's great news!:thumbsup: And you're welcome too. I had a strong feeling that if you got through to the real decision makers they would see your plight. Good for Stihl too; they're a good company.
If it were me, I'd start using the ultra oil from Stihl, and loosen the chain slightly after use just to be safe.

Good advice I would have never thought about the chain thing. I did buy some of the premix fuel while I was there and I tipped the dealer with a bag of homemade deer jerky.
