I was just watching a video on that little CS-2511T. I'm not sure I could get used to a top handle saw. It "seems" to me, the danger of kickback would be much, much worse.

I have lamented the fact that I cant get a PRO saw with the tool less bar tightening, and every dealer told me the same thing, that its garbage.

It is. Very much so.

It is not so much the danger as fatigue... when I cut through the 32" oak that fell across the road with my 14" bar my hands sure felt it as I needed to exert more grip... if this makes sense.

The small bar and green wood has kept kick back at bay... plus it works sweet up in a tree... and I have used it one handed out extended away from me to cut branches for trimming...

It is not a saw I would want to use for hours cutting firewood... the hand placement is too close...

Not just the fact that it is kind of meant to be used with one hand, but even with two, you just dont have that leverage with the back handle. I think I will pass, although the performance of that saw is awesome. So, would it be, cutting into your face I guess. The Echo dealer told me that Ontario Hydro (the electrical utility) no longer allows top handle saws.

I'm tall and so far it has never been near my face... the saw is actually quite small and compact and is easy to use it out of the line of fire...

I just wish my others saws were anywhere near as bullet proof... but the Still AP Electric is also sweet for trimming...

Top Handle Saws are specialized and good for the intended use... and small enough for me to carry it with me all the time on the truck... sure has come in handy more than a few times...

Come to think of it... I was visiting friends and over night a huge fir every bit as big as the oak had toppled... they did not own a saw and every tree service in the county had weeks of work ahead...

I went to the truck and pulled out my little saw and cleared a path for them...
