As I reread this, he most likely has an issue with the key switch. When the key is moved to the run position it must be sending a signal to the timer relay. The stop solenoid only gets it's power from the relay, which under normal conditions is activated when the key is turned to the off position.

The testing procedure will still be the same, just look for 12v at the solenoid when the key goes to the run position, if it does, bad key switch.

Way above my pay grade so this is pure speculation:

The stop timer relay and solenoid react to the removal of power - usually RUN going to OFF. If the key switch isn't providing power in the RUN position but is in START, moving from START to RUN looks to the stop circuitry like the removal of RUN power.

Key switch or fuse or open connection somewhere?

You are understanding it correct TnAndy.sometimes it just clicks.when it does start I have to continue holding the key on.

My thing is why is the Ke.y stop fuse blowing when I turn the switch on
