Stink Bug Survey

The odor they emit when crushed reminds me of fresh cut grass.

I crushed a couple unknowingly in my shed, and thought "rotten apples" before I realized where the smell was coming from....

I've never heard of a stink bug... (on the same token... I haven't heard a quadzillion other things either)

But... are you sure that's not a Cockroach...! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Yes I'm sure, cockroachs are fast on the other hand you could time stink bugs with a sundial.
They do smell similar to all the things mentioned in this thread and I've noticed that even among my family we all have a different idea about what the smell reminds us of.
One thing for sure is that the odor is unmistakable and they don't hesitate to use it,even in freezing wheather when they appear to be dead...PHEW!........Mike

Looks alot like a boxelder beetle, that we have all over our place. We have them in the house at this point also. We were doing some work on the back porch and there were hundreds of them between the walls!

Now I'm confused,my insect doesn't look like a stink bug or a boxeder bug.
I've been checking the various insect sites but none of the bugs shown have the back legs that look like Popeye's arms.
All my bugs have them so it's not a male/female thing.
Any thoughts??.........Mike
