This year I started Cherokee Purple and Brandywine tomatoes from seed. The Cherokee Purple seem to draw stink bugs while the Brandywine do not. Putting sevin on them seems to help but does not stop them. Any ideas of why one variety would draw bugs more than the other?

Thanks

We had two types of tomatoes. One variety always got more bugs. Same with the potatoes - striped bugs. Every morning - out before it got hot - pick & squish, pick & squish.

Just a guess - one variety of tomatoes has tastier leaves.

Another thought - with everything being genetically engineered today - one variety may have some sort of engineered resistance built into it.

they are both heirloom and you may be right as neither is a hybrid. I have noticed that the Cherokee Purple does have a strong sweet smell

Thanks
