Sorry LEO is law enforcment officer NCIC stands for national crime information center they maintain nationwide databases of wanted people stolen/wanted vehicles etc. If you get stopped for say speeding they normally "run" you/vehicle also known as a 10-28/10-29 think of the old 1 adam 12 cop show. so if the info is in database they would get a "hit" and know to take further action. Most states also have same kinda thing so they can keep information that NCIC rules don't allow. Basically just have your buddy make sure the cops have entered it into NCIC. Think now the border patrol runs everything that crosses even stuff on trailers

Brin Monroe. On easy Keys that was one thing that was a absolute PIA for me. Not even the local JD dealers had it. Still not sure what up with it. I just had to run a wire to my Thermal start to the battery just not sure of the correct wiring on the Ignition. Mine was bent and just got it hot enough to flatten it out as best I could.Do I leave it in the ignition H _ _ _ No.

We could start a new group here for tractor owners who had something stolen. Who knows, we could be on the start of something big. The way I see it is that TBN is a great site for alot of information. Why not use it before buying a used piece of equipment ? check to see if it stolen or not? Or check to see if we need to be wary of the ad in paper/craigslist ?

Hey guys,

I deal with a lot of stolen Kubota's being that I run the insurance business endorsed by Kubota (KTAC Insurance). The easiest solution I have heard is to take the fuse out of the equipment when not in use. If the thief can't start it, they usually look elsewhere. I will keep my eyes and ears open as well. Good luck in finding your L39!

ktac, :eek::eek: please delete what you just wrote. I don't want thieves to know that... (since it's what I do). You can edit/delete your post for 24 hours!!!

Again,,,what were the details to the tractor being stolen?

Many tractors today have a few safety switches that must be in just right position to start it. Even if one is slightly out of adjustment it will not start. If time is an issue trying all the combos that could be with those can stop a theft. So can a barking dog and a gun.

Seriously people, shop for insurance on your equipment...it is not that expensive. Some covers your mistakes also.

If they really want it and have the knowledge to, they will steal it. One reason some big companies have their equipment all painted a funky color. Most people notice say a pink tractor being hauled.

Hey Carey, What's up my friend. When I first learned this about equipment keys I was shocked so I understand the concern about this type of information being "advertised" on the forum. However it is pretty much industry standard and well known. I found this out from one of our inmates that was in for (wanna guess...) stealing an ag tractor. I promise, talking about it on the forum isn't "educating" anyone who is interested in stealing equipment. Number one, this is common knowledge. Number two, anyone willing to risk going to prison isn't going to be deterred by whether they have a key or not.

I used to look at heavy equipment parts on ebay quite a bit and tractor/equipment keys are listed by the dozens. There were often sellers offering single keys or rings of keys ( 20 - 30 keys) to fit/run most brands and types of industrial ignitions.

I have often thought the best way to protect an expensive piece of equipment would be to invest in a Lojack or similar device. I remember an episode of Cops where they recovered a big Ingersoll compressor stolen from a construction site. The company had the foresight ( and money)to hide them on all of their equipment and it never occurred to the crooks that anything but an automobile would have satellite tracking.

(getting back to the subject of keys) Actually, while I was typing this, I cruised over to ebay and the first auction I found for keys was a ring for $34.00 that fit the following brands;

Hey,
Just ran this problem by the wife, She said she would never foregive me if it happend to us and said I'd better go get "The Club" I laughed at first, But then again getting something that would lock the steering wheel might not be that bad of an idea. I still have that thought that it won't happen to me ,I wonder if thats what they thought before it happend to them!
