I think such a thread would be a great community service.
Postings would have to be limited to basic details otherwise some folks would post pages of pics and details that would then render the thread useless.
I think a prepared form would be a suggestion to consider, like fill in the blanks.

Wonder if the moderators could set the thread so that the newest posting was on top? Also, if someone has a tip they could be instructed to PM the person whose property was missing- instead of posting for all to see. Also, the postings could be deleted as items are found and deleted after a period of months. I have seen people with nice, late-model equipment and yet the day before they couldn't buy gas to drive to work. I'll bet the recovery rate for lawn and farm equipment is terrible.

Does this forum have a stolen property ongoing (sticky) thread? I think it would be a good idea to have a database with pictures of stuff that people here are missing. Rural crime is going to be getting a lot worse and local law enforcement is about worthless for tracking stuff down.

Some are. Some aren't. Houston......... we have a problem. The party shut down shortly after I posted. As far north as you are you are probably safe from such annoyances. The ones that are here "legally" learn the ropes and the schedules of the various patrols in whatever area of Dallas they're working in and then pass that info on to relatives south of the Rio Grande. One good thing; I've been able to buy all kinds of trees and brand new lumber from some of these folks. Seems the builders in the area always order too many 30 gallon oak trees and excess plywood so they just give it all to the workers.

Come to a border state and you might get it. It's called tongue in cheek. I have bought some trees from these guys but no lumber. And I'm not necessarily saying the trees were stolen. I do wish the guy I bought them from had been able to speak more than 2 words of English. Couldn't even tell me what kind of trees they were. They were Live Oaks, Red Maple, and Monterrey Oaks- 40 gallon, approx 14' tall.

I may be going out on a limb here, but... are you saying that you suspected that the trees you bought could have been stolen (ie - "given" to the guy because the contractor "ordered too many")? If you did suspect this, why would you buy them? Knowingly buying stolen stuff only enables the thieves.

And if you did suspect the trees were stolen and bought them anyway, I find it kind of ironic that you would be the one suggesting that TBN start some sort of forum to help people find their stolen tractors. It's OK to buy stolen trees but not stolen tractors???

I do apologize if I'm insinuating something that I shouldn't or if I misinterpreted something you wrote.

The moderators don't have anything to do with the forum setup. If you have questions about that, contact the owners of TBN.

Because with the border wide open and the impending bursting of the current economic bubble, millions of immigrants (and others) will be jobless. I could site some specific corridors where this will be acute, but I have to go to work for a meeting with the Natl Guard IT guys. Use this: Have any petroleum pipelines been buried in your area in the last 5-6 years?

I live in Texas and have spent a lot of time working near the border. I don't agree with your statements. Are there problems? Yes. Are they significantly worse now than in the past? Not really. Sounds like fear mongering to me.
