Tractor
Kubota
My Kubota was stolen last summer from Outagamie County, WI. I am looking for any information about the dealership from which I had purchased it from. They were located in Embarrass, WI and are now out of business. I believe the model is L4850. How would one go about finding a serial number? I seem to be at a dead end.

If you financed the purchase the bank or credit union would have the serial numbers as well as model numbers. Sorry for your loss I hope you are able to get the try to back or had enough insurance on it.

Your bill-of-sale from the tractor dealer should have serial numbers. Do you have it?

Unfortunately I don't have the bill of sale. This was in 1995. I did finance through a bank but they claim they don't have records that far back.

But did you check with KTAC,? you may have had the Kubota insurance if you financed. They might still have the records.

Did you file a stolen tractor report with the police?

I wonder if Kubota of America would have still have records of what they sold to that dealership?

Not being critical here, but one of the first things I did was take photo's of the serial number plates of the tractor and loader when my current tractor was delivered. As we all know tractors are not titled, and it can be a problem putting a stolen tractors numbers into NCIC when it is stolen. There are plenty of places to get the VIN number of a car but a tractor can be a PITA to get documented.

Same. My tractor is number 44.

Bobcats are a popular Item to steal because they set around on job sites all weekend and some low life will always buy one for 3000 on a Saturday morning. And sell it Monday for 5500. Around here dealers keep the serial numbers on file but they also keep the injection pump serial numbers as well. Thief that knows he is running a stolen piece of equipment keeps it away from dealers ,but never thinks twice about taking a injection pump in to the dealer to be rebuilt. Glad to see this happen. If you are out on a job it makes sense to haul it in and to haul it out on a daily basis. They will even steal your trailer to take it home on.

Speaking of, I also use trailer locks. It will stop the stupid thieves and slow down the pros. I like this lock.

Diversi-Tech Universal Trailer Coupler Lock for 1-7/8", 2" and 2-5/16" Couplers Diversi-Tech Locks DT25013

At any-rate, OP, I'd definitely contact Kubota for the serial number, hitting customer service first and being nice throughout the entire discussion while asking for procedural information to track serial numbers.

I would google L4850 forsale and look at all the tractors that come up and see if you find yours.

Six or more months have passed. No bill-of-sale, therefore no proof of OP's ownership, uncertain of model; no serial numbers, probably did not file police report.

Whoever stole this tractor loaded it on a trailer and sold it across the state line or possibly in Mexico. Too small a theft for FBI to be involved.

I am sorry to say, the OP is SOL.

All OP can do is claim market value of the tractor as a casualty loss on 2014 US Income Tax form.

One thing I did long ago, is to take pictures of all my tools and equipment. For smaller tools I just open each drawer/door and take a pic of the contents. For the larger equipment, I take individual pics. I retake about once a year due to adding new items.

Try convincing your insurance company that you own 6 grinders without proof!

If emccauley2 would contact the regional sales manager for Kubota, that person can access warranty records through Kubota and supply him with everything he needs.

Hard to believe he bought a tractor new and doesn't have any record of it and not sure of the model either???

Whats up with that?

I know a lot of people that don't what model their tractor is.
