Stopping transmission to engage

I agree. Things to do and what not to do. But sometimes the what not takes me longer to figure out... I don't force any of my gears shifting. Period! I find shifting into a higher gear, for Ex. will say I'm wanting 7th I'll go to 8th and then back to 7th and even sometimes 6th to 5th to get the gears to line up and then they go right in...

Good point. Your highest gear will have less speed mis-match and less inertia so its easier to go to that first, and then to the gear you actually need.
