Does anyone have an idea where we should post copies of old sales brochures, specs, and repair/parts manual info for our vintage Yanmars? I don't know of any such a place here on TractorByNet, but maybe I simply haven't looked in the right place. If there's a place here that would be perfect.
Back when I started this Yanmar forum on TractorByNet (in 2001), it was because the old Yanmar forum on Yahoo - which is still at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/yanmartractorownersgroup/ - was unmoderated and had become so loaded with spam that it didn't seem salvageable. At the time, it bothered me that Yahoo had space for storage available and TractorByNet did not..... But a decade past, the spam over there made conversation impossible and the site owner here was willing to welcome our group by creating a Yanmar space.
Yahoo's forums have improved since then; I haven't seen spam there in years. And the Yanmar forum is still there and active - though not nearly as active or as well set up for postings as this forum. But Yahoo still has the advantage of storage space for files and photos. I've been posting information there through the years as have many other Yanmar owners. In fact, I just posted a copy of the brochures for "Yanmar's YFL Loaders" there last week. So Yahoo has a limited space that is handy, and available....though it sure needs a librarian to upgrade the filing system. We could do that.
Any ideas?
thanks, rScotty
Was it determined WHERE the Vintage Yanmar Literature ended up ???
I have the full Yahoo Groups, Yanmar Tractor Owners Group/Club backup along with 3 or 4 other Yanmar Tractor backups of the other groups Jay Brown had started and then abandoned.
We are adding the Vintage Yanmar Literature on GroupsIO, but it's a slow process. Storage space over there is 1Gb max. And the photo section of just the YTOG/C was a mere 669-ish Mb.
Sadly, since I wasn't a mod over there, so doing the archiving, I have no ability to tie the photos to the member IDs who posted them.

And with Jay gone those many years and Doug the last standing moderator who left at the end, there wasn't any ability to link them.
There is a rich history of this Yanmar Club. I came on the scene in late 2013. Well after all of the gray market peak importing and then the legal mess.
My JD850 had just died and I was looking for a Yanmar 3T80 engine. Somehow, I found Fredricks 1-1/2 hours away. Went with the YM2610 of the same engine and have been truly pleased with the machine ever since. They game me the choice of a YM2500 being the twin to the JD850, but Tom mentioned the YM2610 would be a better choice having the PowerShift and the 'live' PTO. Within 3 months, Fredricks' sent photos of my old and beat-up JD850 restored in mint condition. It looked NEW. The foldable ROPS gave it a more modern appearance too.
Still, it's a rich history and fun with our machines. I did speak with Ian Former of the Mitsubishi Satoh Beaver Club. I've been a moderator over there on Yahoo because of the gray market influence. They too have a long rich history. A connection like our family does here.
I too have a bunch of Vintage Yanmar Literature. It would be nice to have a place to retain it all and offer exposure to new comers who ask specification attributes of the machine they had recently purchased or are looking at. Who knows, it could even trigger a spark to revive the gray market once again.
