Storing a Disc Mower

I don't have any place I can store a disc mower laying down. Is there a problem with storing a NH6730 in a garage in the transport position? I have seen some post that the oil will run out. I think it would be better than leaving it outside.

I dont know about the oil running out, but i was told when i was done for the winter to remove the drive shaft. Just my opinion it might be hard to keep it stable leaving it in transport mood, it may fall over as the cutter bar is pretty heavy.

I don't understand the reasoning behind taking the drive shaft loose?? But I will agree, I do not think the mower will stand on its own locked up in its transport position.

Taking the drive shaft off for the winter, will keep the slip clutch from freezing up during the winter, is my understanding

You could figure a way to tie the cutter bar upright and hold it. I'd think that the gaskets on the end of the bar might dry out a bit... I think I'd level it up for a couple of days and let it set before the next season of mowing.

Also, can you take the tension off the belts if the bar is upright?

Storing vertical would be better than leaving outdoors. To be safe, I would be sure to secure the vertical cutterr bar to a post so it will not tip over and injure someone while on storage. Ken Sweet
