I have no place to store my attachments, i was wondering if it is alright to put attachments on old railroad ties, or does the creosote sp? do something to the metal (rust etc).

You'll be ok storing your implements on the ties. The plates that the railroad spikes are driven through and the spikes themselves are steel. The tracks behind my place have been there for at least 34 years with the same ties under them and the spikes and plates look just about like new. I'm not sure what creosote does to paint though.
