I have 5 attachments for my to30 tractor, a finish mower, a bush hog, a box blade, an auger, and a slip scoop. i have a pole barn i have been keeping everything in but all the attachments are either in the way of me working or in the way of getting to another. what is the best solution for this problem, i thought about building another shed just deep enough for the attachments but i am not sure. thanks for the help, chris

I just added a 36' deep x 40' wide garage to the existing 2 car garage attached to my house. I now have more garage space than living space. Yee Hah.
I'm faced with a similar problem. I built the garage to store my JD 4310 and all of its attachments, a horse trailer, a dump trailer and all of the misc. lawn and garden stuff. There is also a small work shop area and room to complete the plane I am building.
With 12' high ceilings and an additional 240 sq ft of attic storage in the roof trusses I've got plenty of storage space but I do not want to clutter up the floor. To utilize the vertical space I plan on installing at least 16 linear feet of 42" or 48" deep pallet racking. I will get a set of clamp on forks for the FEL. Any implement that can be strapped on a pallet will be stored in the rack. This includes the MMM, front mounted snowblower, post hole digger, walk behind snow blower plus anything else that can find its way onto a pallet. The bush hog will have to stay on the ground.
We have a place here that sells used pallet racking at reasonable prices.

Maybe it's the name. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I started to post a similar idea earlier this morning. I've just broken ground on a (more modest) addition to my barn/shop that will be primarily for my 4410 and implements. I have been mentally planning on putting in a couple of sections of pallet rack to store the implements. In another thread, there was a discussion about welding up custom storage carts for each implement - on casters - to facilitate alignment to the tractor and make it easier to move implements around the shop. Now I think I'll blend the two ideas, making custom carts with casters, and shaped to fully support the tool while pallet racked. My concern is that my shed isn't going to be big enough to maneuver the tractor with forks.

Just throw 'em outside ... they're just implements ... put a tarp on them if you feel guilty. Ulless they're made of sheet metal or you pour salt on 'em, they'll last a thousand years in the weather /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ditto - Have my stuff outside for 25 years now, some of them was 25 years old when I bought it. They still Looks and works the same as when I got em.
FORGET the tarp - just traps moisture.

Jeff I'm kinda in the same boat but there just isn't room inside for all. My old Dearborn plow, disk, rotary mower, box-blade, landscape rake, broadcast spreader, and a couple of other older attachments sit outside under tarps.
But my TC-40D, finish mower, snow-blower, and backhoe are all in the pole barn kept high and dry.

I keep some things inside, brush hog, PHD, tractors most of the time, but other stuff like rake,rear blade, BB, they sit outside exposed to the weather. These items were meant to be used outside right? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Even if I had the room I think I would keep the "less mechanical" items outside. I like being able to back up, hook up and go. They sit on blocks of wood to keep them off the ground when it's wet.

If your pole barn is high enough you might consider drop-sheds to store your implements.
When I built my shop (24X40) I built a raised pad to get it about 12" higher than the existing grade and poured the slab over that and the building has 10' ceilings. As a result I've been able to add drop sheds on all four sides of the building that I can get under with my tractor. This isn't completely weatherproof, but keeps the rain and sun off of my implements.
