STORM WINDOW GLASS FOR A GREEN HOUSE

   / STORM WINDOW GLASS FOR A GREEN HOUSE #11
On the log cabin I built - I liberally notched the logs with my chain saw and slid the tempered glass down the notches and into place. Between the notch on the bottom log and the one on the top log there was 4+ inches allowing for shrinkage as the logs dried. After four years of drying I applied a bead of regular old window glazer putty to the bottom outside edge of the window. At that time the glass could still be moved up/down about one inch in its notches. The cabin was built in the summer of 1976 and still stand proud to this day.

Are these windows 3 inches by 7 inches like you said, or are they 3 feet by 7 feet?
<snip>
I was wondering that also.

Perhaps you could build the vertical walls with the glass and roof over with plastic.

I decided against the glass. I would have to get a rental truck aka U-Haul to get it and when I found out the location was over an hour away and at least 60 miles, the free costs more. The area I would put it is in my cord wood processing area, nothing to break glass there. I'll just look around localy and see if any lumberyards or nursery could get multi wall polycarbonate 4 or 6 mil sheets. They are cheap online but the shipping is $$. I have a wire hoop house now that I raise meat chickens in now, the plastic over them lasts a season or 2 so I prefer the sheets. The frame would be pressure treated or I might look at the steel studs at HD.
