a storm just pass through canada it was a big one, the precipitation covered everything from the end of lake superior to the Atlantic ocean we got a foot of snow and rain before it switch to snow.
the freezing rain took some power line structures down, the mine i am working at will be 10 days without power at least that’s what they think, I wouldn’t want to see the insurance claim on this one 😬

Can't say as I recall seeing three consecutive days with Enhanced Risk flagged. Tuesday and Wednesday are large areas covering most of the central and midwest states.

Also large Fire Risk zones, Critical and Extreme.

I don’t think there’s any more storms than in the past, just more information. We didn’t have the internet, weather channel and 24 hour news. I remember a summer when it rained every Saturday and Sunday from May to July. I remember a heavy snow in April. I remember an entire month of record setting low temps. I remember a summer of extreme drought. All before the internet and constant dwelling on weather.

I agree and would add they make their money/justify their funding through “clicks”. You don’t click extra tabs to see “Sunny and 72” weather. A lot of it, here at least, has been way over hyped in my opinion. For example, we now get high wind warnings at 20 mph, I don’t recall those before for less that 35-40 unless it was part of some other event.

Agreed. They also get more panic from younger people who have not experienced as many weather events. To them, it is all new and scary. I try to help students understand life before cell phones and gortex and GPS. It can be hard for them to grasp sometimes.

I can remember when we didn't get any high wind warnings, or winter storm warnings. When the event happened, then you knew!
Although we all knew how to read a Barometer and forecast what was going to happen with some acuracy.
Relationships with Dairy Farmers at the Oregon and Washington coast would also work out to be an early warning system, they would call and tell us if there was high winds, rain or flooding. Couldn't deliver hay to some dairies when the roads where flooded, so they would call and let us know.

We have winter storm warning going from today through Thursday 4/14, I live 8 miles from Glacier park and we are VERY snow prone. This morning we had 1'' and icy roads, at work in Kalispell and south 30 miles away they had everything from 4'' - 9''. All I said was "WHAT in tarnation.......".

Weather happens. Unfortunately, modern marketing has caught up with that time honored proverb. So weather has to happen more frequently now, whether it actually does or not.

I’m not looking forward to this week. Our forecast is for 4 consecutive days of red flag high winds and cold temperatures. Ugg.

It was a really nice day here, must have hit 60. The sun’s out with a little breeze, the ice on the lakes must be getting black.

I killed my first mosquito of the year as I was typing this...

I've seen a few bats every evening for a week now. I fear they might have returned a bit early this year.

Situation is getting serious here. Snow is starting to stick.

In my area, due to high elevation we commonly have sizable amounts of snow accumulation from late winter storms in April and even May during these cold front events. Our weather isn’t settled until Memorial Day.

Good chance we shall get the left overs from mid west.

It's snowing in the PNW, rare for April. Forecast is for stormy conditions to hang around for a week, though mostly rain. Snow at high elevations.

We're supposed to get between one and two feet of snow over the next 3 days.

We'll see if we get any. Most of the time they over estimate by a very wide margin these days.

6:30 pm and down to 86 from a high of 89. Been windy for days. Had a little rain in the morning. Spring is wild.

Supposed to get hit with ping pong ball sized hail here pretty soon. 😱😱😱

Could be worst. 80 miles west of us just got hit with baseball sized hail stones. 😱😱😱

Tornado warnings tonight with some nasty storms rolling through.

Hail came through and booming and crashing so far. They keep reporting ping pong ball sized hail. But I'm not seeing it, and we are smack dab in the middle of it.

I think people are trying to sensationalize it saying they are getting bigger then it actually is.
