I sounds dangerous BECAUSE IT IS!!!, I never forget the story my emergency room nurse wife tells about the guy they brought in who got his pants caught in a PHD. He lost his sack ( not the kind of sack you get at the grocery store)
Think about that next time you're up on top of an operating PHD!!! Be safe.

I ripped the shirt of a friend of mine who was leaning on the PHD for me. We were being careful too.

His shirt barely touched the PTO drive shaft and before I could blink, it ripped it almost completely off him. Good thing he was 6' 5" and close to 300lb. If he had been a small guy, it would have pulled him in.

Be careful out there.

It was highly inappropreiate for me to post that statement.

Using equipment in an unsafe manner kills or injures people everyday and many of them know better. Worse yet this forum attracts people who are new to using equipment so to expose anyone to ideas that are totally against any acceptable safety guidelines is unacceptable.

I would never use a PTO implement with out the safety sleeve in place. As a matter of fact I'm due a new one since mine is starting to be discolored indicating decay.
I would never get near the PTO shaft or the auger while running. Loose clothing is a major culpret.

I never attach anything to the PTO with the engine running.

Climbing on top of the boom requires careful skill and balance that clearly exceeds most peoples capabilities.

The bottom line is you should never dismount the tractor with the engine running while using any PTO implement and do not operate the PTO without a sleeve on the shaft.

Tom,

Looks real nice. I'm always impressed by a nice straight fenceline and the skill it takes to get it that way!!!! Please keep posting pics as it's always fun to see it come together, and the finished project.
