Not too long ago my wife was leveling some ground and has managed to bend a couple of the scarifier teeth on our box blade. Replacements will cost me around $27 each but my dealer has offered to try putting the bent ones in his press and straightening them. These are bent probably 4" or more out and aren't really useful at this point.

My question is this. Is this even worth trying, after being bent like this is a straightened tooth easier to rebend? Am I just better off spending the $54 to get new ones?

I don't think they will break if you try to bend them back.

They will likely be more apt to bend easier the next time.

I'm cheap, so I'd have him straighten them.

I have had mine straightened twice with no ill effects. Mine were not bent that much side to side, but when we looked closely, they were bent slightly from front to back. We straightened them in both directions. My theory is that they are probably somewhat weaker than before they were bent and straightened, but they still do the job.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I'm really not out anything if they can be straightened and bend again easier. Worst comes to it I have to fork over some money for new ones.

What kind of BB do you have? And who is charging you $27 each for new scarifers? Man, talk about profit margin.

Agri-Supply sells them for $9.99 or $14.95 each depending on the type. See page 48 of their October catalog. These are the same scarifiers that are used by all the major manufacturers including Midwest and KingKutter.

HUMMMM The BB I have is distributed from Lowery Manuf and was sold to me from the local Kubota dealer. I'll have to pull one and see what the dimensions are. Maybe Agri will have replacements. Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know these were more or less standard dimension parts.
