Strange PTO behavior.

Mine doesn't. The BH will freewheel for a couple minutes after shutdown. There is an overspin clutch, about it I think.

Doesn't the PTO have a wet brake? When you disengage the PTO the brake slows the implement down so it doesn't free wheel.

I'm guessing that when you disengaged the PTO the brake engaged and brought your already slower spinning blades to a screeching halt.

Just my .02 cents.

Jeff is right… You can see this by trying to turn the pto when it is not engaged… it will only turn about a half turn.
Also hydraulic, live-independent has nothing to do with the main clutch… it is independent. KennyV

Just a last followup after some hogging this weekend. I can shut the tractor down, blade spinning, disengauge the pto and nothing happens. BH still spins but I think the overspeed clutch stops clicking.

Now this is with the tranny in neutral, if it's in gear I think something would make a clank. But then the whole tractor might want to move.
