Strange RPM Loss?

I had a similar problem last summer with my JD. Turned out to be a piece of silicone floating around in the fuel tank, finally plugged the tank outlet completely. Thats how I found it.....

My L3400HST has never stalled in 160 hours. Sounds like fuel starvation. I'd change the fuel filter first. It's real easy to do. Eliminate the simple things first.

Does your tractor have a seat safety switch? Might just be a problem with the switch or wireing. Mine used to get snow built up under the seat so it was JUST making contact. A slight bounce and the engine would go into "shut-down" mode until I could lift my foot off the go pedal, which took the switch out of the circuit and allowed it to rev up again....

All you do is set it at about 1/2 throttle, set the cruise and enjoy the ride. Simple.

It was the fuel filter. Runs much better now.

You got a bad load of fuel at sometime.

Mighta been bad fuel..

or wet.. once I find alot of water in my fuel drain seperator.. the filter is not long for this world..

The filter element was brown and the new one is yellow. The book states to clean every 100 hours. I am guessing either a bad load of fuel or the tank or fuel jugs were dirty.

At least now I know.

You may want to buy an extra filter. Typically, bad fuel will need to be flushed and it has a high risk of clogging again until it is all out.

I will buy a filter now that I know it has solved the problem. I have run the fuel level down 3 times now. This was before the filter change just in case it was bad fuel. By down I mean 1/2 hour below empty. Most of the stuff should be gone.
