Isn't in the forest because where I grew up there wasn't such a thing. In our pastures around home (Dakotas) we have numerous circles of rocks that were left from the bases of tepees. They are a little hard to find but once the cows get the grass chewed down they are pretty easy to see. They are on virgin prairie so have never been disturbed.

My scene from the past was the water tank on abandoned railroad near where I grew up. My grandpa said he could hear the construction sounds when they put in the railroad. He said his cousin was in charge of keeping the tank filled. The water was pumped from a stream by a hit and miss engine. I guess the tank was scrapped over thirty years ago when they took up the tracks.

Interesting, tell me more? I do agree, what ever it is for, there is a air damper of some sort missing. The lug is still there.

I found the frame in a depressed area, think a sink hole minus the hole, and the door on a hillside several hundred yards away, amongst some soft ball + size rocks.

These, the bathtub, and the vehicle debris posted previously, were subsequently found to be near an old home site, now in an inacessible area of a local park. Parts of the foudation and another bathtub, old appliances, remain. I used a USGS quad from photos taken in the 1950's to figure out where the structure was, the road leasing to it disappeared a few hundred yards into the woods, up the side of a steep hill. The pillar of stone looks more recent and "maintained", but the "patio" of stones around it e looks older. The old tractor sits in the floodplain and only level ground anwhere close to the homesite, down a very steep hillside. All in the middle of the woods now.

Our is built into the center chimney of our cape. Dates to about 1760 but I think the hardware was probably replaced sometime in the 1800's. Look up center chimney cape beehive oven on Google.

Years ago.....we found a starving yellow lab.....old girl with a tumor on her back leg.....could hardly walk. We suspect somebody dumped her out on a logging road. Brought her home and took her to our vet. Vet thought she was between 7 and 10 years old. We had the tumor removed.....had that old girl for 7 years. One of the best and most loving dogs we've ever had. Still miss her.

My cousins and I managed to miss all sorts of things in the woods that had to be there - rattlesnakes, copperheads probably being the worst. Always plenty dead in the surrounding roads. Probably the scariest thing was a dose of chiggers to the privates before being told what they are.

At probably 8-9 years old red whelps on the ankles are typically mosquito bites. But when your sack swells up about twice it's size and terrible itch will get your attention LOL. First experience with chiggers and not quite old enough to realize the unclothed bites were not mosquitos. The country cure - NP27 - athletes food treatment???

Railroad boardered the property I own. Found three concrete fenceposts and two brace bars along with one concrete post base from the original fenceline. Need to probe the area to see if the other two bases csn be found. Railroad was tore out in 1957 according to a neighbor. Never have noticed concrete posts and braces before, anywhere.

Want to make a yard decoration out of them.

Chiggers like to go where the skin is wettest which usually means where the clothes are tightest thus are often around the waist. :shocked: Not fun. Shorts seem to make this worse.

I wish the stone pillar and patio could tell us how they got there.

Wiccan's maybe or someone piling up stones when returning to land that used to be in he family? That pillar and patio is odd.

ha! we 'treated' younger cousins with everything from Lysol spray, absorbine jr and Gulf spray. Sure got a lot of laughs out of some of those treatments. It's a wonder somebody didn't get hurt.
