Find some 2" or thicker oak planks, cut to size, dill holes, counter sink the bottom bolt head about 3/4". I'm 70% through my second set, have 3200 + hrs on tractor and prob. 50% backhoe work.

Go to a truck fuel station like Flying J and buy one "mud flap" that's about 3/8"-1/2" thick. Cut to fit your existing pads. Drill the mud flap material and use a self tapping screw to affix to your pad. BTW cost of the flap is less than $20.

We have used rough sawn oak.. and countersunk the bolts to be less than flush... if you like you can then add tire tread to them using sheet metal screws in the grooves of the tire tread..to hold it to the oak..

I just got the other day from holidays and while travelling I seen many retreads that come off !* wheelers on the side of the road and this gave me an idea. So when I got home I wnet to a garage where they retread tires and had planned on getting a couple of pieces of this retread material one for each pad and when I got there they were out of the business of doing this so when I was walking through the shop I couldn't help but notice on the floors parts of this material. what it was is the samples they have on the wall where they sell the tires. Pieces are different sizes and thickness depending upon the type of tread. there were about 6 pieces there ,I asked for them and they gave them to me go I took them home .

I then started to figure out how I was going to attach them to the feet. I decided to get some steel plate approximately 3/16 to 1/4 inch thick,I then cut the plate the same size as the bottom of the feet in two pieces for each size , the plate was cut to about 3x10 inches and would fit under the steel pad. Luckily there are two predrilled holes on each size of the foot/steel pad so I would bolt these pieces of steel plate up on each size with a piece of 3/4 inch plywood same dimensions between the plate and the bottom of the foot ,two bolts will keep the steel pad secured to the feet with the wood between the plate and steel pads then drill some holes through the steel plate so as to secure the rubber tread to the steel plate as I will put the screws up through the steel plate up into the plywood. I plan on using wing nuts to help secure the whole setup to the stabilizer pads so it is easy on and of .
For any of you who I have totally confused I will post pics later on today so you can see what I mean and then get your feedback on the design.

Horse stall (or trailer) mats are 1/2 or 3/4 inch thick.
If you can find a local place that does work on trailers you might be able to scrounge up some off-cuts.
Else they're usually about $35 for a 6ft by 4ft mat at places like TSC - HEAVY and not easy to cram in a small car.

Well I am am bit closer to finishing this small project and it seems to be working out ok. This is how I am securing the rubber pads to the steel base plate I made . I will cut off the excess thread and bolt them to the plate.
