I have to install beacons on the roof of all my snow removal equipment (required by a commercial customer). Roof of my New Holland backhoe has magnetic bases built right into the roof. Next to both bases is a small plastic port with a spring loaded cap molded right into the roof. If you open the cap, there's what looks like a mini cig lighter socket. Both roof sockets are energized by switch on dash. I've heard this smaller plug called a "mini plug". I cannot find a strobe light that has a mag base, a small length of cord and this mini plug on it at any equipment dealers.

Anyone know where to buy them? One company that makes them is Britax, but Britax won't sell direct. Local dealers are of no help.

When I was the Fire Dept Chief ... almost anything needed for lights was available at Police Gear - Police Equipment - Police Uniforms - Public Safety Equipment: Galls

Found battery operated strobe lights with magnetic base at the Truck-n-Tow website. If you hunt around there you might find what you need. I have ordered from them before and am happy with their service/shipping speed. They have all kinds of warning light type set ups.

Thanks for the tips, guys. However, the only setup that will work is strobe, magnetic base and this mini-plug. Can't really make anything else work without undesireable cutting/adapting, etc.

That's what I ended up doing - just buying a Powerlet adapter for $20. That opens up a huge selection of cheaper beacons with the standard size plugs. Got a "Buyers" strobe for $30.

Not sure if the adapter will be reliable, but it's worth a shot. The Britax Strobes with shipping from UK are ~$125.
Supposedly britax will be opening an American outlet for their strobes after the 1st of the year. Maybe then I'll take another look.

Thanks for the suggestions.

G'day the plug you have is known over here as a single pole plug both narva and hella make plugs that you can fit to the end of any strobe/warning light and only need a screwdriver to fit. Most of those plugs are wired pos in the centre and neg to the outside, they use these plugs alot in europe and over here as they are more positive fitment and carry a higher current. Hope this helps
